Research Interest

Biochemistry, Biophysics and Physical Chemistry.

Using total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy as the main tool to study the membrane proteins (1) in vitro reconstituted on the supported lipid bilayer (2) directly on the live-cell membrane.
Goal:

  1. Understand signal transduction among the membrane proteins and the downstream proteins at the molecular level.
  2. Interrogate the biased signaling from the agonists in GPCR signaling.
  3. Study cell-cell recognition in immunology using the interface between the live-cell membrane and the support lipid bilayer. 
  4. Develop novel methods to extract intact membrane proteins from the live cell and in situ reconstitute them for further studies.
  5. Apply the two-dimension protein phase transition to detect the transient dimeric interaction.
