Research Interest:

Current studies include the synthesis of biomimetic dinitrosyl iron complexes (DNICs) for electrocatalytic water splitting generating hydrogen/oxygen. Of particular interest is directed at the bioinspired coordination Chemistry, i.e., small molecules (NO2-, NO3-, O2, N2O, CO2) activation by DNICs. Interconversion of DNICs and S-nitrosothiol (RSNO), and the biomimetically synthesized iron-nitrite and -thionitrite compounds ([(NO)nFe-NO2] and [Fe-(RSNO)]) are of particular interest in the ongoing studies of DNICs chemistry. The water-soluble DNICs and Roussin’s red esters (RREs) acting as NO-donor vehicle capable of delivering precise NO directly to specific tissues are also investigated.
