Course Regulations for the Master’s Program(20240424)

Course Regulations for the Master’s Program, Department of Chemistry, National Tsing Hua University

1. Master's students must complete at least 24 credits in addition to their thesis.

2. Education on Academic and Research Ethics Course (online course, 0 credit): All M.S. students must register this course during the first year of M.S. program and pass the exams. 

3. Seminar (Organic/Inorganic/Analytical/Physical Division)(CHEM5)2 semesters are required, 1 credit for each semester.

4. Colloquium (CHEM5)2 semesters are required, 0 credit

5. Seminar I& II (CHEM5)2 semesters are required, 2 credit for each semester.

6. Teaching Practice (CHEM5)2 semester is required course, 0 credit. M.S. students must serve as teaching assistants in their first year, assisting the Department with college lab courses and grading homework and exams.

7. Thesis1 semester is required course, 0 credit

8. Special Topics in Applied Chemistry: Students in the Applied Chemistry division must take this course, 2 credit

9. M.S. students must complete course requirements in a division or program before graduation.

Physical Chemistry Program(Need to pass at least three following course)

Molecular Spectroscopy (Molecular Photochemistry), Thermodynamics (Statistical Thermodynamics), Quantum Chemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Experiment Techniques in Physical Chemistry, Introduction to Biophysical Chemistry, Laser Chemistry and Spectroscopy, Computational Chemistry, Python for chemists

Inorganic Chemistry Program (Need to pass at least two of the following courses)

All graduate inorganic chemistry course

Organic Chemistry Program (Need to pass at least three courses from the following)

Organic Synthesis IOrganic Synthesis II, Organic Reaction Mechanism, Spectroscopic Methods for Organic Analysis , Physical Organic Chemistry

Analytical Chemistry Program (Need to pass at least two of the following courses)

Analytical Mass Spectrometry, Trace Analysis, Chromatographic Techniques, Biomedical Analysis, Advanced Electroanalytical Chemistry, Green Chemistry

Materials Chemistry Program (Need to pass at least two of the following courses)

Analytical techniques for Material Chemistry, Solid State Chemistry, X-ray diffraction & Crystal Structure Analysis, Nanomaterials Chemistry, Colloid Chemistry, Heterogeneous Catalysis, Special Topics on Materials Chemistry.

Biochemistry Program (Need to pass at least two of the following courses)

Advanced Biochemistry, Biomolecular NMR, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Biomedical Analysis, Chemical Biology, Protein Structure and Drug Design (Protein Structure and Chemistry), Introduction to Biophysical Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry
